CAPN launched a Myth-Busting Series to address and debunk common misconceptions surrounding citizenship laws in Nepal. The initiative aimed to encourage meaningful discussions on the realities and issues surrounding citizenship. As part of this series, we introduced two powerful storytelling formats: VOX Pop and anonymous testimonies. VOX Pop is an audio-visual segment where we gathered diverse opinions and reflections from the general public and young law students on citizenship issues, particularly those related to acquiring citizenship through the mother’s name. In addition, we shared anonymous testimonies on social media from affected individuals . These stories shed light on the everyday struggles, emotional toll, and systemic barriers faced by those living without citizenship, amplifying voices that are often unheard. By addressing misinformation, the series seeks to ignite meaningful discussions on citizenship issues. It also raises awareness about the deeper complexities surrounding citizenship, which extend beyond common assumptions.
