Strategic Planning and Meeting 2026

The Citizenship Affected People’s Network (CAPN), from 26–28 October 2026, came together for a three-day Strategic Meeting to pause, reflect, and look ahead.

The meeting provided a space for our team to reflect on CAPN’s journey, the changing context around citizenship and legal identity in Nepal, the realities faced by citizenship-affected individuals, and the opportunities and challenges before us.

At the heart of our discussions was a simple but important question: How can we strengthen our work so that people affected by gender-discriminatory citizenship laws are not only at the centre of our work, but are meaningfully supported to shape and lead the change they seek?

Across three days, we reflected on our experiences, identified the strengths that make CAPN distinct, examined the broader landscape of actors and opportunities, and discussed how we can deepen solidarity, strengthen community leadership, build partnerships, generate evidence, and advance advocacy for gender-equal citizenship rights.

For us, strategy is not only about deciding what comes next. It is also about understanding who we are, what we stand for, and how we want to create change together.

As we look towards the years ahead, we remain committed to building a stronger movement grounded in lived experience, solidarity, intersectional gender justice, and the meaningful participation and leadership of those most affected.
