Our Work

Legal Aid & Advocacy

Under legal advocacy, CAPN plans to engage with the government and other concerned stakeholders by conducting various discussions and workshop programs. Through this advocacy,CAPN aims to lobby with the lawmakers to amend the discriminatory provisions in the Constitution of Nepal regarding citizenship. Case mapping is another significant component thatthe organization plans to conduct under the goal. Through, case mapping, CAPN would map the data of affected persons at the local level namely, Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, and Lalitpur in collaboration with the local level. Additionally, CAPN aspires to conduct paralegal training whereby the paralegals can provide certain legal support to affected individuals. Currently, only Deepti Gurung (CAPN’s founder) has been tirelessly handling cases. With our trained paralegals. we will be able to expand and extend our support to more people in need. Considering the significance of research on citizenship and birth registration, CAPN targets to conduct legal research on the existing gaps and challenges in the nationality laws of Nepal. In 2024, CAPN aspires to mobilize the international human rights mechanism and represent the existing gaps in the law through UPR, CEDAW Shadow report, and Special Rapporteur.
