CAPN’s Executive Director, Deepti Gurung, was honored with the prestigious Voices of Courage Award by the Women's Refugee Commission on September 26, 2024.
Established by the Women's Refugee Commission in 2007, the Voices of Courage Award honors exceptional women from around the globe who have shown incredible bravery, vision, and leadership in bringing about positive change in their communities, often despite systemic obstacles and personal risk.
Deepti is one of two people recognized in 2024 for her exceptional work. This year's Voices of Courage Awards celebrated those who advocated for the protection of human rights, advanced gender equity and equality, empowered women and girls, in all their diversity, and fostered peace and government transparency around the world. Alongside Deepti Gurung, Ms. Rowida Tariq Elshafee was also recognized for her contributions.
This award recognizes Deepti’s transformative work in advocating for gender equal citizenship rights and supporting marginalized communities in Nepal. Her leadership has been pivotal to CAPN's advocacy efforts, inspiring continued dedication to justice and inclusion.
