CAPN, in collaboration with the American University Washington College of Law (AUWCL)’s Center for Human Rights and Humanitarian Law, Academy on Human Rights, and LLM Board, hosted a screening of Beyond the Barbed Wire, followed by a panel discussion.
CAPN’s co-founder and Fulbright Scholar, Advocate Ms. Neha Gurung moderated the panel discussion “International laws and judicial measures to address statelessness and Gender Discriminatory Nationality Laws ” with: Betilde Munoz-Pogossian from Organización de los Estados Americanos, Ivonne Garza from O'Neill Institute for National and Global Health Law at Georgetown University, Ellery Saluck and @Ian McCarthy - both JD student researchers The panelists shared their expertise and findings - on international laws and judicial measures to address statelessness and Gender Discriminatory Nationality Laws (GDNL) Around 30 participants attended, including a UNHCR Fellow, faculty members, AU students, and Fulbright scholars. Invitations were extended to NGOs, INGOs, Special Rapporteurs, and selected Embassies, including those of Malaysia, Liberia, and Eswatini.
CAPN is humbled to have great co-organizers as major allies amplifying the advocacy efforts of an impacted advocate and impacted people led organization. The University warmly provided space to build on the advocacy and actively made sure it was organized perfectly with all the tools and resources both logistically and financially.
